JENNY GARRETT McLAURIN, GOLDSMITH

Jenny Garrett McLaurin was born and raised in Pittsboro, a small town in central North Carolina. She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1994 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Fine Art and Geography. She attended the famed Penland School of Crafts in 1996, and pursued apprenticeships in the Piedmont region. She received an Emerging Artist Grant in 1997 from the Durham Arts Council. While establishing her own brand, Jenny opened Gallery 18 in downtown Pittsboro in 2000. During that time, her pieces were also sold through galleries in Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Asheville. In 2004, Jenny opened her first solo jewelry studio, BIZU. In 2012, she moved to the Chatham Mill, and this year she relocates to her original vibrant studio space in downtown Pittsboro, in the bustling historic center of town. She is rebranding to her current craftmark, J G McLaurin, Goldsmith. Jenny has developed her own aesthetic through the years that is organic, artful and composed. With a passion for making one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry, Jenny also loves working on commissions with her clients.
